The blend of historic architecture and stunning nature, with stone walls and lush greenery, tells each site’s unique story.

Spanish Fortress (Fortica)

Constructed in 1557, the Spanish Fortress (Fortica) once served as a military stronghold. Today, it offers excellent photo opportunities of Hvar and its harbour. Accessible on foot (uphill), e-bike, or e-tuk-tuk, it’s a wonderful place to visit during your Hvar sightseeing.

Napoleon Fortress (Napoljun)

Malo Grablje and Velo Grablje Tell the Story of Traditional Dalmatian Rural Life

Malo Grablje has been abandoned since the mid-20th century; its remaining houses and streets provide a window into a bygone rural lifestyle. These villages highlight traditional Dalmatian stone structures, dry stone walls, and charming architecture set amid lush landscape.

Discover dry stone walls and “Trims” (stone huts) built without binders. This ancient Mediterranean technique was historically used for constructing walls and huts like “Trims,” primarily for agricultural purposes, such as creating land areas for grapevines and other traditional crops.

Lavender’s aroma fills the air here—try local dishes made from this fragrant herb.

In June or early July, the Festival of Lavender in Velo Grablje features many local products crafted from lavender or inspired by this Mediterranean plant—ranging from essential oils to wellness and beauty items, fashion accessories, and lavender-coloured home decor.
